The PSU Writing Helpline answers specific grammar and usage questions, and specific questions about specific sentences. You can access the helpline by phone or email.

Phone: You can usually get an immediate response to a question by calling the Writing Center at 503.725.3570 during regular business hours (see current term hours on the right sidebar).

Email: Questions submitted via email can usually be answered within 24 hours, except on days when the Wrtiing Center is closed. Send your question to writingcenter@pdx.edu, and to ensure a prompt and accurate reply, include the following information:

• The words "Writing Question" in the subject line.
• Your name, email and phone number in the body of the message.
• The sentence or example you are asking about.
• A specific question about the sentence or example.
• A deadline for an answer

If your question is not specific to a sentence, grammar, or mechanics, we suggest you schedule an individual tutoring session with one of our consultants.
